A Global Alliance for Sustainable Innovation and Development

The United Alliance for Sustainable Technology Transfer is an initiative of the Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg.
It brings together universities, businesses, and organizations committed to building sustainable ecosystems and strengthening local economies in the Global South.

The alliance focuses on responsible use of natural resources, the development of local value chains, and the creation of sustainable economic structures that support long-term development.

The initiative was first introduced in 2022 by Bertram Lohmüller at the SDG Lab of the UNGSII Foundation during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Our Mission

Our mission is to accelerate the transition to sustainable and inclusive growth through the strategic deployment of green technologies. We work with governments, institutions, and businesses to design practical solutions that strengthen local economies while protecting natural systems.

Our approach combines rigorous analysis, global expertise, and on-the-ground insight to ensure that sustainability initiatives deliver measurable impact where they are implemented.

We focus on building long-term value rather than short-term gains. By supporting responsible resource management, strengthening regional industries, and enabling locally grounded innovation, we help create systems that are both environmentally sound and economically resilient.

Our work is guided by the belief that sustainable development succeeds when global knowledge connects with local capability and when technological progress benefits the communities it serves. 🌱

How We Work

At the center of the initiative is the SDG Technology Transfer Competence Center of the Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg.

Together with partner institutes in target countries, the alliance develops local centers of excellence that:

  • connect international and regional partners

  • support innovation and technology transfer

  • provide training and professional education

  • implement sustainable development projects

The alliance operates within the IMLead® Heptathlon framework, an integrated approach to management and leadership for complex development initiatives.
