Partnering in Business with Germany

International Management Training and Business Development

What knowledge and skills are necessary for successful international business? For us, this is anything but a theoretical or rhetorical question. Thanks to our numerous successful market research and benchmarking studies as well as solid and trusting business and co-operation relationships between the Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg and companies from Asia, Eastern and Western Europe, South and Central America and Africa, we have a wide range of extensive experience in international business. We are pleased to share our knowledge and management tools with international executives from almost all over the world.

We are a recognised partner

in the foreign trade promotion instrument “Partnering in Business with Germany” – a programme for international business cooperation of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Since the start of the programme in 1998, we have been actively involved in the international training programmes for management and support companies in successfully initiating business. To date, more than 15,000 decision-makers from 21 countries have taken part in the programme. Every year, we host various international groups and support the participants in developing their skills and expanding their international business. To ensure successful programme implementation, we have developed tools with which we implement the programme virtually and in a face-to-face format. We are proud to have developed the “Fit for Partnership with Germany” competency model together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH based on our IMLead® Heptathlon management concept. This model forms the framework for all programme phases. It was developed under the scientific direction of Dr. Bertram Lohmüller, Managing Director and Partner of the Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg.

Partnering in Business with Germany is an instrument of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) to promote foreign trade. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been commissioned to implement the Programme on behalf of the BMWK.

Dr. Bertram Lohmüller

Our competence model – Green IMLead® (Green Management & Leadership) Heptathlon Management Concept

– provides a framework for our international management trainings. All our management and leadership trainings as well as our case studies are linked to the seven IMLead® management fields.

During the implementation of the programme, we organise and conduct management trainings and focused group company visits to help our participants experience German businesses in practice and learn from the management know-how of German companies.

An essential element of the Programme are B2Bs -

individual meetings with German partners. We support our participants in establishing direct business contacts and conducting tailored negotiations with potential German business partners.

Our participants profit from the first-hand practical programme experience and report great benefits of the partnership programme: From the improvement of the existing business practices in their home companies to fruitful win-win cooperation with German partners.

Here are our participants’ voices:

“After the programme, we have implemented new human resources policies in our company with the objective of taking care of and retaining certain key workers after the end of a project. With the visits to German companies, we learned the importance of having social commitment with the communities around our projects, the importance of continuous improvement and never stop learning something new and put it in practice on daily basis and one of the best is the importance of investment in innovation to make a difference with our competitors. I recommend this programme to every manager who wants to explore new business areas, who wants to open their minds and realise what I should improve and how I can put this new knowledge into practice. I recommend this programme to all managers that are currently facing some troubles with their team, with motivation, with colleagues, with communication, with environment, to managers who need an impulse in their careers, contacts and international exchange. I recommend this programme even to companies that doing great businesses, because there is always a space for improvement. This programme was amazing for us. It made us believe we can take some risks and expand our services and products to another industry. Now we already had conversations with diverse companies in Germany that would be more than happy to cooperate and do business with us.”

Herr Gonzalo Becker, Firma “COMYPOL SpA”, Chile

“Through this program, I was introduced to a different approach to management when it comes to human resources, innovation, leadership, and improving my company's organization. As a result, I was able to focus my attention on some areas that were not receiving enough resources or importance in my company, such as a good innovation management. On a more personal note, I gained business skills and became aware of the importance of understanding the cultural differences during negotiations and during collaborations. Having this new perspective gave me a whole new perspective on how to handle different situations in terms of dealing with potential associates, partners, sellers, or buyers. I am really thankful to be part of this program and the amazing group of people in it. I have gained some vital knowledge in terms of management, but also a new and global perspective in sustainability, technology, people and culture. This program makes you realize the importance of working together towards a common goal, which is a brighter future for all. My overall experience was really rewarding. An overall fulfilling experience that will help you grow as a manager.”

Herr Gustavo Rubio Díaz, Firma “Yeyeko Inc.”, Mexiko
